CRIMINAL (2016)

Made in the UK, this Hollywood sci-fi action thriller features an Agusta Westland AW-109E Power (G-EMHC) flying a convict (Kevin Costner) from prison to an RAF base in Dover.

Later, there are two Westland Apache gunships on patrol over another British city.

The spy chief (Gary Oldman) takes a Eurocopter AS-355 TwinStar (G-XLLL from Excel charter) flight over London to follow a van-load of Russian agents, and the helicopter lands in the grounds of a university.

This Twin-Star takes off again to pursue the hero who is driving a stolen ambulance to a small air-field for the final shoot-out.

DAY OF RECKONING (2016)

This sci-fi horror begins with a montage of apocalyptic scenes that include a pair of Black Hawk gunships and two Mil Mi-24 Hind choppers in brief CGI shots of aerial combat against swarms of flying creatures. 

There’s also a couple of U.N. helicopters, a Russian Mil Mi-17 Hip transport and a Bell 212 Twin Huey, in a brief stock-footage shot.

This comedy action movie includes a Bell 427 that lands in the grounds of a school for the heroes to attend a class reunion party.

MECHANIC: RESURRECTION (2016)

This action movie sequel includes a Eurocopter AS-350B3 A-Star that lands on the bad guy’s motor yacht, moored near Bangkok.

 

 

Later, there’s a Bell 206 JetRanger flying over Sydney harbour where the hero jumps down 60 feet from the hovering helicopter into the sea.

 

 

Finally, in Bulgaria, a hospital medevac EC-145 helicopter is used by the hero, who sneaks aboard the flight to reach the heli-pad of his target’s bunker hideout.

 

 

X-Men: Apocalypse

X-MEN: APOCALYPSE (2016)

In this action movie sequel, about a team of mutant superheroes, a Sikorsky S-61N Silver is the featured helicopter. This big transport arrives at Xavier’s school just after the building has been demolished by an explosion.

Some of the kids are kidnapped, but three more teleport into the helicopter’s cargo cabin, as the bad guys fly to a secret military base, where the helicopter enters the complex through a tunnel in the mountainside.

One of the bad guys uses the same helicopter to escape in when his plans are ruined by pesky kids, and captured mutants break out of their prison cells.
