War Dogs

WAR DOGS (2016)

This American crime drama, about illegal arms dealers, includes a brief shot of stock footage with four AH-64 Apache helicopters shown on a TV screen.


Later, a US army Huey gunship saves the crooks’ lorry from bandits on the road from Jordan to Iraq.


The movie also features a V-22 Osprey tilt-rotor parked at a military airport in Baghdad.

MARS (2016)

This futuristic docudrama TV series, about astronauts living on the Red Planet, features remote controlled copter drones, with co-axial rotors, used to survey the Martian surface.





Animation of copter drones also appears in the programme’s title sequence.


One episode of the present-day documentary material includes a Bell 205 flying over Antarctica.

THE TUNNEL: SABOTAGE (2016)

This TV crime drama sequel is a UK-French co-production. 

In the first episode, a police TwinStar hovers over a plane crash scene just off the English coast. In a later episode, a LongRanger chopper flies over a French university during a police raid.


In the final episode’s rotary action, a blue Bell 407 flies over the railway yards where cops chase after the fleeing villain, who escapes in the helicopter.



After the climactic rescue, a Eurocopter AS-355N TwinStar lands on a beach where the hero arrests a terrorist.

This sci-fi horror movie features one shot of a CH-53 transport hauling a Red Cross cargo container as a sling-load underneath. 


The helicopter is flying low over a suburban area, and it startles the young heroine watching CDC vehicles arriving in town.

Spectral

SPECTRAL (2016)


This sci-fi action movie includes several American rotor-craft deployed in an east European war zone. 


An MH-60 Black Hawk lands in a town square to rescue US troops and the chopper’s rotors blow dust at ghostly attackers. 




This USAF Black Hawk flies the evacuees to a new HQ in a refugee shelter, where V-22 Ospreys arrive hauling crates.



Next day, five Osprey transports carry troops to attack a power station, where special ops teams abseil down to fight a horde of quantum spectres. 





After the final mission, a Black Hawk lands with survivors at a US military base, and the scientist hero boards an Osprey for his flight back home.

Hooten

HOOTEN & THE LADY (2016)

This British TV adventure series is about a couple of treasure hunters and global travellers played by Michael Landes and Ophelia Lovibond.


First episode The Amazon features a Eurocopter EC-120B searching the South American jungle for the remains of a lost Victorian explorer. 


In the show’s main rotary action, the pilot betrays the heroine but the hero climbs aboard the Colibri for some low-flying stunts over the river, where the heroes jump out before the chopper crashes into a rocky hill-side.


Episode Moscow includes an unlikely Bell 206 JetRanger in rural Russia.

Episode Cambodia has a Bell 407, without its rear doors, flying the villain and his henchmen to a mountain location.
